About
Alvaro Altamirano Visoso

I’m a Mechanical Engineer from New York University, with minors in Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science.

My main expertise lies in mechanical design and aerodynamics engineering, with hands-on experience as the mechanical and aerodynamics lead on three NASA sponsored lunar rovers, a novel VTOL drone platform, NYU’s Formula SAE team, and a published soft robotic finger.

Throughout these projects, I’ve also developed strong skills in computer science, advanced manufacturing, and systems integration, bridging disciplines to bring complex ideas into reality.

I’m passionate about building the future of exploration rovers, aerial drones, electric vehicles, soft robotics, infrastructure machinery, communications devices, and renewable energy systems.

I also have several interests outside engineering. I enjoy greatly reading books from Ernest Hemingway to Jules Verne. I also enjoy playing and watching sports like F1, soccer, tennis, and golf. In addition, I enjoy recharging my energy by hiking, biking and surfing. I like spending time giving back to my community. And lastly, I recharge my creative energy by playing the piano and never missing a song released by Surfaces.
